64th Annual Engineers Week Banquet &
Awards Ceremony

STEM Forward is pleased to name Dr. Kristina Ropella of Marquette University as 2016 Engineer of the Year, Jared Wendt of CH2M as 2016 Young Engineer of the Year, and Caterpillar, Inc. as the 2017 Spirit of STEM recipient.

An Engineer of the Year is a remarkable person in the Milwaukee 7 community who has made an extraordinary contribution to the engineering profession. The Engineer of the Year award has been a STEM Forward tradition since the 1950s. The Young Engineer of the Year award recognizes an exemplary engineer under age 40.

This year's keynote speaker was MSOE President Dr. John Walz, who began his term as MSOE's fifth president on July 1, 2016.

Walz shared his thoughts and vision for MSOE, STEM and community partnerships. Most recently, Walz was dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Kentucky, and has received numerous honors and awards over the course of his career.

Caterpillar Inc. received the 2017 Spirit of STEM award for being a leader in STEM education.

The Spirit of STEM award, initiated in 2012, recognizes organizations that have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to advancing STEM education and talent development in southeastern Wisconsin. Criteria for the award include employee involvement/volunteerism, financial support of STEM and leadership.

Thank you to the following local businesses and individuals for donating items for the banquet's silent auction. Proceeds support STEM education and programming.
