Artificial Intelligence in K12 Education: What Students Should Know

K12 is committed to preparing students for what’s next but what’s next is rapidly changing as a result of Artificial Intelligence. What should students know and be able to do? In this session, we will present national guidelines developed by a working group of CS teachers co-sponsored by the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence and the Computer Science Teachers Association and funded, in part by NSF. You'll learn about five “big ideas” adapted for each grade band. We will highlight how the guidelines align to existing ISTE standards for teachers and students, and how they could/should influence the ACP implementation in Wisconsin schools. We will also review 2 case studies to demonstrate how these guidelines can be incorporated into a K12 STEM curriculum along with the capacity building supports and resources available to help you do the same.
