Carolynn Gellings Presents Milwaukee’s Streetcar Project

Construction began on Milwaukee’s streetcar project in March 2017. Once completed, the city will have a streetcar with modern technology that circulates people around downtown, links activity centers and neighborhoods, and supports planned development. The initial two-mile starter system will connect the Milwaukee Intermodal Station and housing on the lower East Side, providing service to many residential, commercial, employment, parking and hotel destinations.

Carolynn Gellings, Project Engineer at DAAR Engineering, will provide a brief background on Milwaukee’s streetcar, its purpose and need, and location. The construction phase will be discussed in detail, including the planning and coordination needed to implement major construction work zones on six key roadways downtown, challenges encountered during construction, an update on progress and what can be expected when the streetcar opens for service.
